MPS Studios Adds ARRI ALEXA DNxHD To Inventory
Now renting ARRI ALEXA Plus DNxHD cameras, MPS Studios Dallas & MPS Camera Austin continue to offer the latest in cutting-edge digital solutions.
ARRI ALEXA DNxHD offers in-camera 16:9 MXF/DNxHD recording to SxS PRO cards, thus eliminating the need for transcoding and saving time and money on post. ALEXA MXF/DNxHD files are natively supported by the Avid family of non-linear editing systems, and can be recorded at both Regular and High Speed Mode. It provides the same naming convention as ProRes clips, the same exposure latitude, sensitivity, and colorimetry as ProRes recording, and camera metadata is embedded in XML clips.
According to ARRI’s website: “The ability to record native Avid DNxHD as MXF files in-camera creates a unique proposition for the 35-mm digital capture industry and is another first for the ALEXA camera system. The combination of ARRI ALEXA quality and mission-critical reliability with Avid’s respected codec and editing technology delivers a powerful, uncomplicated workflow into the film and broadcast TV market, building on ALEXA’s position as the first choice digital camera for capture and postproduction.”
MPS Studios president Mark Beasley added, “Avid is an industry standard for post-production, and we are proud to expand our ALEXA inventory to now include the state-of-the-art ALEXA Plus DNxHD. It is yet another incredible ARRI tool that offers our clients in the television, movie and commercial worlds streamlined workflow and cost savings.”
Since its debut in 2010, the ARRI ALEXA has garnered widespread acclaim for its exceptional ability to capture film-like images in a digital environment characterized by versatile workflow options. Currently, the MPS Studios catalog includes eight ALEXA cameras, as well as 1,000-plus items of camera, lighting/grip/electric gear to support projects of any size at any location.
