In May 2014, MPS Studios Dallas Austin welcomed Angel Ovalles as its new Senior Lighting Service Technician. Angel came to MPS after three years in a similar role with ARRI INC, the largest manufacturer of professional motion picture equipment in the world, in NYC.

“I’ve had an interest in anything electronic since I was a kid. I used to take apart radios and toys to see how they work,” Angel said. The interest led Angel to an Electronics Technical School in the city, where he spent over 900 hours learning everything about electricity, wiring and electronics. After Technical school Angel landed a job as a lighting service technician for ARRI INC. Working under ARRI’s expert Electronic Engineers Angel was able to hone in his technical skills specializing in ARRI ballast repair.

When Angel and his wife decided to move to Texas in search of better schools for their 8 year old daughter and affordable homes, he approached his boss at ARRI who referred him to MPS Studios.

Since his arrival, MPS Studios has been working with Angel to build a lighting shop equipped with state of the art diagnostic and repair equipment. This new shop is now able to accommodate a larger number of repairs with effectiveness and precision.
