Last fall, MPS had the privilege of hosting Cannonball Productions in Studio M at our Dallas facilities. They’re talented cast and crew worked with TX Lotto to produce a really great commercial.
In order to run a fast and efficient set, Cannonball constructed multiple sets on Studio M – our 8,000 square foot (80’x100’) sound stage with 72’x17.6′ sweep wall. Our light-sensitive ALEXA Mini and sharp, fast ARRI Zeiss Master Primes rode on an Aurora Head mounted to a Fisher 23 Jib Arm and Fisher 10 Dolly. This provided easy, smooth navigation between the multiple sets, as well as camera movement within each take. Camera department utilized the ARRI WCU-4 for ALEXA Mini for wireless lens control.
We caught up with Cannonball Executive Producer Andrea Struble to ask her a few questions about the project.
1. How would you describe your experience working on the TX Lotto commercial?
I would say that working on Texas Lotto was a great and very, very busy experience. I mean, our set did have 15 wiener dogs on it at one point!
2. What were the benefits of shooting in Dallas? What attracted production to that particular studio?
What attracted this particular job to Dallas was the studio. We needed large spaces to build the sets and its super convenient to have all of the equipment housed so nearby. Also, Dallas has some pretty stellar crew.
3. How was your experience working with MPS?
Working with MPS is always fantastic. Very much like working with friends.
4. What kind of feedback has the commercial received?
The feedback on the Texas Lotto spot has been overwhelmingly positive. Not only was the agency and client very pleased but I’ve received lots of calls from friends around Texas who have seen and liked it. That’s always a really nice feeling!
