MPS Studios Designs Incentive Program Presentation
June 19, 2007  DALLAS

For the first time in Texas history, the Lone Star State has a production incentive program. Signed into law on June 7, the program give producers more reasons to shoot features, television episodic projects, and commercials in Texas. While a few administrative logistics are being worked out, the program became effective immediately following the Governor’s signature on June 7.

To explain the incentives and how Texas-based companies will be impacted, MPS Studios put together a special event for key clients at the W Hotel in Dallas. “Our clients asked for information on the incentive package and how their business will be impacted,” said Meredith Stephens, Director of Development. “MPS Studios has been involved in the legislative fight with TXMPA from the inception of the organization. We wanted to share our knowledge with our clients and explain how to take advantage of the incentives.” A panel made up of the people behind the incentives included Hector Garcia, President of Texas Motion Picture Alliance; Toni Miglini, President of Associated of Independent Commercial Producers; and Bob Hudgins, Texas Film Commissioner. The panel discussed TXMPA (the organization that lead the fight for incentive this legislative session), which projects qualify for rebates, the application process, and ended with a Q&A session. Attendees walked away with collateral material describing each section.

Michelle McAnally from Sugar Film Production said, “The event was very informative and successful. Our company will definitely benefit from the information.”

MPS Studios has serviced the motion picture industry for nearly 30 years.
