TXMPA Announces 2010-2011 Board of Directors and Annual Report
Nearly 150 TXMPA members and supporters celebrated four years of achievements and cast a hopeful eye on the future at our Annual Meeting at MPS Studios in Dallas on Saturday, June 19.

TXMPA President Don Stokes and Texas Film Commissioner Bob Hudgins hailed the significant advances made since our original incentives program launched in 2007 (just one year after TXMPA was founded), and even more notably since the new and improved incentives program was passed last year.  Both pointed  to exciting new production that has come to Texas as a result, including a record five television series this year (NBC's award-winning FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTSand upcoming CHASE; FOX’s acclaimed THE GOOD GUYSand forthcoming LONESTAR, and ABC’s upcoming MY GENERATION) and numerous films (such as the Coen Brothers’ TRUE GRIT and Mel Gibson’s HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION). In addition, Texas had a great showing at the recent E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in Los Angeles, with strong buzz for such forthcoming Texas-made games as Disney Interactive Studios / Junction Point's EPIC MICKEY, BioWare's STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC, Sony Online Entertainment's DC UNIVERSE ONLINE, and Retro Studios' DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS

Hudgins was then joined by members of the production team for THE GOOD GUYS, including Producer Mitch Engel, Production Manager Joe Dishner, and Co-Producer/Production Designer Craig Siebels, for a Keynote address and discussion. They shared their experiences and insights on filming in Texas, and advocated for bringing more production to the state. Engel  declared that the crews and talent in Texas are among the best he has ever worked with.

Reports from TXMPA’s committee chairs, includingCamille Scioli McNamara and Jeanette Scott(Membership/Fundraising), Linda Dowell and Jeff Evans(Communications), Susan Fowler (Website & Social Networks), and Garry Potts (Legislative), showed the continued growth of our organization and our industry. Fowler noted that TXMPA’s Facebook group now has over 2,000 members, and Scott announced that Austin will host the World Premiere of Robert Rodriguez’s highly anticipated PREDATORS on July 7, with a portion of proceeds benefitting TXMPA (see above).

TXMPA Elections Chair Nikki Young also announced the following election results:

Jeff EvansCamille McNamara, and Don Stokes were elected to the three open At-Large seats, continuing their service on TXMPA's Board of Directors. Joining them in their respective Industry seats are new Board membersSabra Young (Texas Association of Film and Tape Professionals), Jay Schuh (Animation, Video Games, and Visual FX) and Trish Avery (Labor/Talent), alongside returning Board member Steve Belsky (Labor/Crew).

Newly elected Regional Board members include:

Kirk Manton, Panhandle Regional Alternate
Dr. Louis Falk, Rio Grande Valley Regional Representative
Henry Serrato, Rio Grande Valley Regional Alternate
Robert Tibuni, West Texas Regional Representative

(Other Regional Representatives are unchanged.)

Finally, on Saturday the 2010-2011 Board re-elected Don Stokes as President and Susan Fowler as Vice President, and elected Robert Curlin as Treasurer and David Friedman as Secretary.
